Power Morphicon 2022: Cozy and Playful

(The coolest Megazord combination in gold)

Hello, it's Zachary, ready to inform the world with zaniness and intrigue. It's 2022 and while there's still a pandemic of sorts, it's not stopping the convention scene. Around July, I went to San Diego Comic Con 2022 and it was my first convention since 2020. There were masks (for costumes and protection against covid-19), yet there was still fun within the convention community. There were cosplayers, celebrities, books, toys, etc., and it felt great to be around that again. Also, it was in Pasadena while in 2018 it was in Anaheim. It was new to check out Pasadena, but it feels the same as any other convention.

Power Morphicon 2022 is my second convention in 2022 and I plan to hit another one before the year ends. While I didn't cosplay, I took photos here and there. However, what was drawing me in with the convention was the bundles of toys and merchandise everywhere. From old to new stuff from Power Rangers, Super Sentai (the source where Power Rangers gets their fight scenes), Kamen (Toys everywhere left and right)

Rider, etc., I was tempted to buy something. I

So wanted to buy, but I had to at least try and get some cool cosplayers here and there.

There were some cool cosplayers doing their Power Rangers cosplay. From old school to new school, it was nice to see fellow fans of Power Rangers:

There were some mashups or reimagined versions of some Power Ranger stuff and it's always cool to see different versions of a cosplay. I even saw a Power Ranger cosplay mashed up with Pokemon, or reimagining your favorite Power Ranger in a different set of armor:

There were also some former Power Ranger celebrities in the mix and while some had to involve waiting in line for the best meetup (ex: Jason David Frank's line was huge), I managed who I wanted to meet and how much I was willing to spent. The best ones I got were from Camille Hyde, aka Shelby from Power Rangers Dino Charge, and oddly enough Robert Ri'chard, aka Bobby Walker from Cousin Skeeter, Arnaz Ballard from One On One, and most recently Shawn from Amazon Original Series, Harlem. The latter was there since he is good buddies with Keith Robinson, aka Joel from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. It was a cool experience to see actors and actresses from shows I've watched, and even better to get selfies with some of them, or get them in photos with other cosplayers and fans:

It was cool to see some a lot of fans, celebrities, and yes, even the toys at Power Morphicon 2022. I even caved and got my self some toys and books. For starters, I got six Mighty Morphin action figures and while the White Ranger was a Lightning Collection item, I was like, "same size, close enough". I even bought a new comic book called Radiant Black by Kyle Higgins. Not only will I start reading more issues/volumes, I'm also now gonna collect toys from time to time.

(New comic book to read and new toys to collect for fun)

In the end, Power Morphicon 2022 was fun and I hope to come back again. Now, I got to prepare for another convention, maybe Los Angeles Comic Con 2022, or something small for now. Best wishes, stay safe, and stay clean!!!
