Halloween, Michael Myers, and The Night

Hi, it's Zachary, ready to inform the world with zaniness and intrigue. Halloween is in the air and with all the ghosts, slashers, and other folks wielding knives, it's that time of year to dress up. One of my closest friends, Michael Mason, wanted to work on his Halloween project and I helped him out by being his photographer. He did provide the lighting equipment for the night photoshoot and it was my first time experimenting with photos at night time. It was a bit challenging, but with a couple of camera alterations, it came out pretty cool.

The way that Michael Mason poses showed he knows how Michael Myers has a strong presentation of violence and intimidation. We did experiment with different lights to create different moods and vibes. The orange light has that warm and dark Halloween season vibe and even when the shadows hides his eye, it comes off as both scary and supernatural at the same time. Even the knife was real, or at least kitchen-ready sharp to give off that realistic vibe. Final alterations were made in Lightroom and I experimented on some stuff, such as having a little more light or balancing some dark and light parts of the image.

I hope to do some future stuff in the night, or at least work with darkness in a studio style environment. Maybe I can do some night shoots involving Star Wars and lightsabers. Still, I may need some practice in the se night photoshoots and in time, I hope it all works out.

Here are some of my best work from that night:

In the end, it was an enjoyable yet scary shoot (since it was dark and I did play Resident Evil 7). Hope for more photoshoots in the dark. In the mean time, stay safe, stay clean, and best wishes.
